9 countries sell a time-based motorway vignette instead of charging per passage: Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland. The cheapest short-validity vignette we list is €3.50 in Romania, and the most expensive annual vignette is €180.00 in Moldova.
A vignette is one purchase that covers a country's whole motorway network for a fixed period, so it is not charged per kilometre and is not additive with the tolled tunnels or bridges that a country explicitly excludes from it. Countries that charge per passage instead of selling a vignette are listed separately on this page, as are the countries with no motorway charge at all.
